Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program
The concept of a hospital-based violence intervention program (HVIP) is an evidence-based strategy to reduce gun violence. Our unique program combines the skills of licensed clinical social workers, all of whom possess master's or doctorate degrees, along with community-based outreach workers and medical staff. In fact, our program has a nurse who goes into client's homes to offer further care following discharge. We provide services to victims of violent crime and each week, we conduct clinical staffings to assess the needs of our clients and ensure those needs are being addressed. Additionally, we conduct critical conflict resolution at the hospital when a shooting victim is brought in to prevent retaliation or re-victimization. If you are interested in implementing this science-backed program in your jurisdiction, we can help you get started.
