Walking One Stop Initiative
Walking One Stop is a world-renowned cohesive multi-agency partnership that began in Miami-Dade County in 2008. This innovative and data-driven approach to public safety brings social and economic resources directly to the doorstep of residents who need it most. We select the neighborhoods to go into by pulling recent ShotSpotter data to determine which communities have recently experienced gunfire. These communities can most benefit from our services. To date, nearly 300 Walking One Stops have been completed, resulting in tangible effects in the communities they have been implemented in, such as increased job placement, reductions in violent crime, and tips leading to the arrests of violent offenders.
